Woyww #169 - England, Russia, Turkey

What's on your workdesk Wednesday? Hosted by Julia at Stamping Ground. Lots of lovely desks to see. Lots of inspiration to get. Lots of amazing organised spaces. In the meantime, look at mine...............

Not been up here as often as I would have liked since last Wednesday. I finished the Monkey and I called him Lumpy for various reasons. He is sitting with his cousin on my desk awaiting to be sent across to England for my Neice.

Also is a nearly finished (I know, I know, I should have done it by now but sewing is not my forte) Russian Doll keying I started last week. Only need to add a couple of leaves to the ring part. Not not bad for a novice.

The kids swimming towels are on there awaiting some badges to be sewn onto them. They both made me very proud and got new badges this Summer. I hate sewing them on but love the fact that they are all in one place and they can keep the towels forever.

There is a tray on the left full of bits and bobs. During the week I emptied out my lounge drawer. This is where I put all my stuff when I work downstairs in front of the TV and then when I finish for the evening, I sweep it all into the drawer. Ingenious. Except that nine months of doing that meant you couldn't get anything in and I couldn't find anything. I now have an empty drawer. Yaaay.

I have a crochet magazine open at a page for Turkish Bracelets. I promised a certain girl a friendship bracelet and I thought I could have a go. I know I have said that before but I've promised now, so I have to deliver don't I?

I don't think there is anything new on there. Off you pop now and look at everyone else's. Thanks for coming and having a look though, much appreciated.

  11. Oh I remember how proud I was to get my swim badges, especially as I wasn't a great swimmer as a kid. Putting them on the towel is a great idea, we had ours sown on our cossies and they really did itch!! Love Lumpy! I'm sure your niece will too. Good luck with finishing the keyring and getting the bracelet done, you'll definitely have more time when the stinky boys go back to school!

    Hugs

  13. Love your workspace and Lumpy is just so cute, as are your Russian dolls. Just noticed that you live in Ontario - that's where I was born! Lived in Goderich and St Marys and then emigrated here to the UK so we are opposites! Wonderful for the children to get their swimming badges - I always hated sewing on badges......Happy WOYWW, Anne x #32

  18. I always hated sewing on badges too - is it because the thick edges mean you always stab your fingers?? And I'm really impressed with the sewn Russian dolls, I daren't do anything that intricate..fat finger syndrome you see...oh, and a lack of patience too, lol!!
Like the look of those Turkish knotwork bracelets - are they the same as shambala type bracelets which seem to be taking the UK by storm at the moment??

  24. Lots of projects to be worked on - Lumpy turned out well, I see :) Sewing swimming badges on to a towel is a 'why didn't I think of that idea'. My daughter was a very keen swimmer and diver when young and I used to sew her badges onto her swimsuit - however, she was growing which meant frequent new swimsuits - oh, the palaver of removing badges from one suit and sewing them on the new one. Finally, I sewed all the badges together and then was able to sew them all on at one, only having to add new ones as they came along until the next change of swimsuit. I was always so grateful when she was awarded a trophy - they just had to be displayed :) A towel would have been a far better idea because, as you say, she could have kept that forever.

Thanks for sharing. Hope you've had a great day and wishing you a fabulous week. Elizabeth x #101

  27. If it involves sewing you can count me out! fabric glue was the best invention ever! You have a lot on the go...and yes you have promised so I guess you have to do the bracelet!

  28. You've got a lot going on! The monkey is adorable, and I like the Russian keyring too. I never promise anybody anything. I get too caught up in the moment, and sometimes I think I can make anything (which I'm sure I could if I wanted to, and persisted) and say, "I'll make that for you." It's taken me decades, but I've learned. lol

Hope you have a wonderful week,
