Hello. Well last week I thought Wednesday was Monday and today I have decided Tuesday is Wednesday. Still with me? Never mind. Whats on your workdesk Wednesday - people from all over the world show their workspace. Most people do this on a Wednesday, hence the name.
Enough waffling.............
I wish I could tell you I tidied up after last week's mess, but really it is on the chair, under the desk and around it. I will do it one day, I promise.
So on my desk is my main project I am working on, Socks. However, am I knitting it inside out? The lady who taught me to knit on the round, said after the rib, just knit. But to me it looks inside out. Anyone have any ideas?
I would be ever so grateful if anyone can put me right. I daren't do any more rows in case it all has to be undone. I am not due back to my knitting group until a week on Friday - I don't think I can wait that long!
The other big thing on my desk is my Granny Blanket. Now that it is getting cooler (especially at night), it is lovely to have this over my knees whilst crocheting.
It takes me approximately 20 minutes per side. That's 1 hour 20 mins per round. I can only manage one round per night. Also it takes approximately 40g to go all the way round. That's a while ball of wool nearly. This project started out to be a 'use up all the odds and ends' and then I bought some wool from the thrifty shop. I wanted to make it as big as a king size bed. It is nearly wide enough but ot long enough. my Mum suggested I just crochet the sides now but I don't know if that will look right.
The only other major thing on my desk is beads. I tried to follow a pattern for Turkish Bracelets but couldn't get it, so I am now making friendship bracelets but with beads in. It's not bad. Need practice.
I think that's enough of me, I am now off to see what everyone else is up to. This will take up the majority of my day I know and I have Smallest with me tomorrow. I can't understand why he isn't as interested as I am.
Wish I could help, but i'm not a knitter. I'll drop by next week to see what you have accomplished

Well I don't know anything about knitting and can't help you with your project. :^) hope someone comes along with an answer! Patsy
ReplyDeleteI used to knit my hubby's jumpers years ago but never attempted socks, don't know why you'd bother really? they certainly look inside out but I'm no expert.
ReplyDeleteMakes me feel hot thinking about a crocheted rug over the knees lol.
Good luck with it all.

Brenda at no 1 this week knits socks... hope you get them sorted! Helen, 5
ReplyDeleteYour tidying up method sounds like mine! Love the sock but I have never knitted one so I cant help I'm afraid - love the blanket too I only learnt (finally after a year of trying) to crochet a couple of weeks ago and am now amassing a pile of flowers (can only do two patterns) to use up sometime! Thanks for sharing - Sunshine Girl No. 68
ReplyDeleteI knit and I have made socks and it looks like you should have started knitting a row first but instead purled the first row after the ribbing. When I do the stockinet stitch the "right" side looks like what you have inside your piece and "wrong" side is on the outside. Love the colors in the granny squares and I am like you I love the feel of the warm cover on my legs when I crochet or knit. Hope I helped. Vickie #73
ReplyDeleteI was away from my desk last week and couldn't leave any comments so I'm trying to get around as many of my blogging friends today.
ReplyDeleteI've never knitted socks before sorry so don't know what it should look like.

ReplyDeleteSandra @105
I have made socks, but I have no idea how to help. It does look wrong though, so I hope somebody knows and can help.
ReplyDeleteYour granny blanket is lovely.

Hi Famfa - not a knitter but if it looks ok on the inside don't you just have to turn the sock in the right way when you have finished? Your granny blanket reminded me of when my Mum made one many years ago. She and my Dad used to sit with it on their knee and they used to turn it in unison! I think she finished hers off with squares that she added on as it made a nice finishing border. Have a fun week and Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 102
ReplyDeleteYup, it's inside out. But don't worry, you simply turn it the right way round and continue, no need to pull it out. I'm only working on my second pair ever, so 4 individual socks in total and I knitted 3 of them inside out at the beginning, it's incredibly easy to do. Have a look at this link, it's got great photos and shows you how to do it correctly, it helped me! Sock link. Well done for giving it a go, as with everything, it gets easier with practice! That crochet blanket sounds huge!!

Wish I could advise you on the socks--but I've never knitted socks. I am working on a butterfly scarf--on my desk today--I'm thinking it's going to take me a month, but I love how you are calculating the actual time a project is taking you. I knit, but so far I'm a horrible crocheter! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #36
ReplyDeleteI can't offer advice.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could knit.
I tried when I was younger but lost it on the way :)
I love how the blanket is turning out :)

ReplyDeleteSorry - I knit but I have never knitted a sock! x JO
ReplyDeleteI think folks have given you some good advice - socks are the one thing that I've never knitted..as is crochet, never done that either and I can't seem to pick it up from online tutorials. So I'm hoping that JoZarty will show me at the WOYWW crop!

Lots of interesting things to see on your desk this week. I'd like to see what you make with all those beads!

I see Brenda left you advice on the sock issue so you are probably busy figuring that out but I just wanted to share my first thought this week when I looked at your workspace...ouch! All the needles sticking up everywhere made me think, I hope she doesn't have kitties who randomly jump up on that table! lol But wow you are a busy and talented crafter! Thanks for sharing. :)
