Yay, I made I back to What's on Your desk Wednesday if not a little later than everyone else.
I just popped up into the loft to take a photo. Oh dear, I never tidied it up before I left it a few days ago.
Scraps of material from my quilt, cutting mat, template and map of where the pieces go. My youngest was helping me place the squares in the right position at the weekend. I wanted to see if he could understand the patterning process and he really enjoyed it. I'll get him sewing one day, after all it was a man who won the Great British Sewing Bee.
There is more of my quilt here but for now I have two boys at home for March Break so I can't imagine there will be too much sewing.
It's fun to see the mess others make...wish I had a little more space to make my mess in at the mo but I'm hoping before too much longer we will be able to get moving on the house alterations and my sewing room might take shape then :-) Keep up with the encouragement with your little man....my little man did x stitch at age 6 and rather likes to still sew aged 27 :-)....I actually think he was the last of my three [the other two being girls] that used my sewing machine :-)

I used to do quite a bit of sewing with the kids at school and it was quite often the boys who showed keenness and aptitude. I think they see the patterns and construction quicker sometimes...and they adored bring allowed to use the machines! I'm enjoying doing some quilting as well at the moment :-)

Looks and sounds like you've been having fun. And how great to have some help too! Enjoy the break. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so great that you are helping to inspire the next generation regardless of gender. My son is scrapbooking his school trip to Barcelona and I just love watching his creativity bloom. :)

I'm more of a cook than a needlewoman so my 3 boys all cook as well as make lovely decorated Birthday Cakes! I also get the occasional hand made card! Hope to catch up on what you have been up to tomorrow! Chris47 x
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your quilt. My desk is a timeline of previous projects. :-)

Hello Famfa. Lovely to hear what you are up to - keep up with the encouragement - it's great when our youngsters show an interest, isn't it? Mine are now 40 and 38 - both are still using all their creativity in one way or another, and now are passing that on to the next generation. Hope you get a teeny bit of time on your quilt...
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.
