This week I have been trying to make the most of the sunshine and been crafting outside. Well trying to, despite being ill and having the kids here. Funnily enough they are not interested in crocheting, knitting or anything I fancy doing at the time. You see, it doesn't involve mud, sticks or chocolate.
Anyway, what is on my crafting rug:
My How To Crochet book which I am finding incredibly difficult to decipher. It should be easy. There are diagrams, pictures, tips but I just can't do it. Luckily my Mother in Law can crochet and she is going to help me this weekend.
There are my balls of wool and some lovely flowers I might make into brooches. I made them by mistake, good mistake but a mistake nevertheless.
My smash book - full of more ideas which I will get round to one day.
And an album I am trying to create of old photographs found at my Grandma's house. I've had them for years but only just started to sort them. Some of them go back ages.
I wish I knew who this was. We think they might be my Great Great Grandma & Great Great Grandad but we can't be sure. It seems a very old photograph. |
What's on your work desk this week? Hop over to Julia's to find lots more desks.
Another purchase from Ikea that I wanted to share
It's a candle that smells of apple. ....and it really does. I have bought many scented candles before and none really smell once they are lit - but horray, this one does.

I really love old photos :-) Have fun in the sun.
Hugs,

Vintage photos, scented candles, smash book (not done one yet - are they fun to do?), little ones who like mud, sticks and chocolate - sounds like a fun recipe to me. Enjoy your sunny crafting! Thanks for sharing your desk - hugs, Neet #5
If you need help with crocheting, why not ask Julia - see crochet 'elephant' earlier in the year, lolol !! I'm making some little baby cardies for the NCT fair I'm doing on the 12th August. Couldn't bring my sewing machine away, knitting was more portable!! Have a good week :) x
Oh wonderful! Love the photos! Kim
Looks like you are having a wonderful time! With some vintage photos (totally cool btw!!! even if you don't know who is who), a blanket on the lawn, and a scented candle with kids frolicking...it is like living a Monet painting! My idea of heaven (ok add dark chocolate and a glass of wine) Thanks for sharing! -Amanda
Fab photos and Fruit Scented Candles, i always burn a candle after cooking, it takes away the cooking odours
Thanks for sharing

I love the last photo - looks like 1st World War to me - so nearly 100 years old.
Gosh! I wish my kids would let me get on with some craftiness once in a while!!
Thanks for following and commenting on my blog.
Yours is just lovely and I am now following you back!
I learnt to crochet recently using Debbie Stoller's 'Stitch 'n bitch crochet' - it sounds mad, but it really is a very well illustrated book with great descriptions of what you should be doing - and a good read, too.
Have a good week.
Xx
What a gold mine those photos are ...hope you manage to name and date some with a little detective work. I think that photo may be early WW1 about 1914 ...maybe you can workout more about the lady you think iy is and see what ties up ...good luck
Lovely things happening here today, and dont blame you for going outside and making the most of it.. love the old pickies obviously a First world War uniform - so was your ancestor in WWI? that would help in your figuring as you know it is taken between 1914 and 1918....
Thanks for sharing and for popping over, Happy WOYWW! Shaz in Oz.x
thanks for the peek on your rug... Once you get the hang of crocheting it's quite easy, it's getting that hook into the right little hole...
Have a great day
wow - loads of photos there to sort out - great shot of the rug... aah - I see you have two boys too. That would explain why they're not interested in all your stuff. I have two boys too - and wouldn't have had cat in hells chance of crafting all those years ago - so I'm a late starter - had to wait until they became self sufficienct.
I'heard about smash books - but not entirely sure what it consists of - I have a rough idea and think i've probably done something similar without knowing it!!!
Good luck with your hobby through the holidays while trying to entertain what looks like lively, healthy boys. - how lovely to have them still at that age though.

I do so envy you! I have been meaning to crochet out doors all summer, but have let the heat or the allergies scare me away nearly every time. Lovely work you are doing!
Thanks for sharing your rug, what a great way to craft. Those picture are such a wonderful treasure - lucky you! Don't ya just love Ikea! Happy WOYWW on Sunday - a little late getting around this week.
awesome crafty rug!! I love to sit out at the patio table and play but it has been so hot here >40 C the past 45+ days that it is too hot to be outside more than a few minutes. I am a wimp! Looks like the kids are having loads of fun too! Sorry I am so late getting around but once again life has interfered with what I want to do! Thanks for sharing. Vickie
