Woyww #302

Yay, I made I back to What's on Your desk Wednesday if not a little later than everyone else.

I just popped up into the loft to take a photo. Oh dear, I never tidied it up before I left it a few days ago.

Scraps of material from my quilt, cutting mat, template and map of where the pieces go. My youngest was helping me place the squares in the right position at the weekend. I wanted to see if he could understand the patterning process and he really enjoyed it. I'll get him sewing one day, after all it was a man who won the Great British Sewing Bee.

There is more of my quilt here but for now I have two boys at home for March Break so I can't imagine there will be too much sewing.

woyww knit-a-long

Hello Weddnesdayers. I have missed you. I have been away for some time. School Holidays - I blame the kids. Anyway, today I am linking with the lovely people of Whats on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Yesterday my desk looked like this.....

knitted squares, my favourite sewing needle for knitting and my new glasses (wow I can see).

I joined a Rowan KAL some time ago, purchased my balls of wool and have been steadily knitting squares all Summer long. 36 squares later and I started sewing them together - which I finished doing today.

Now I just have to knit the edge which is a cable rope which should measure 4.8 metres. Phew.

Hope to visit many other deskers to see what is happening out there in blogland.

WOYWW #139 (a mess and a giveaway)

It's that time again.  What's on your workdesk Wednesday?

What a mess.  All works in progress though.  Here goes:-

Knitting Needle bag, I was looking for a circular needle to try something new but couldn't find what I was looking for.  Haven't put it all away yet.

Smallest's swimming towel with a badge from home that I must sew on.

Some magazines I'm reading and a library book called Chicks with Sticks about knitting.  It's very good.

My cardi knitting pattern - oh yes must check with Moo whether she has sewn it together yet.

All the cards we were given or sent when we left the UK and moved here.  I wanted to do something with them?  Any ideas?  I've not done journalling and wouldn't know where to start!

My craft bag with my knitting in.  Am attempting a knitted bag to go with the handles I won from the felt fairy (hoping this will be my Monthy Make for February - arrrggggghhhhh it's February today)?

The same bags in the same state as last week.  Ummmmmmmm.

A picture I drew and coloured - inspired me to do something with it but not sure what yet.

A sock with a hole in it.  I thought I might try a sock monkey!?

.....and Small's toiletries bag, still in the same state as it was last week.

I just noticed my jeans to repair are still on there.  Didn't even notice till I looked at the picture and a tiny weeny crochet hook I found that I thought I could make something with.

That's it apart from to say that I am having a Pay it Forward Giveaway and would love it if you would enter.  Just go here and leave a comment for a chance to win something handmade from me.

Woyww #134 - 2012

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Am a bit late today, but here it is anyway..........

It's a it of a mess but here goes :

Bag of wool - I have just finished knitting a scarf for Small.  A magazine box with papers in.  A tin of buttons.  Some porcelain paint - every year for Christmas we decorate plates, or mugs and give them as presents but this year due to us relocating, we never got chance to do it.  My Cath Kidston Craft bag that my lovely friends bought me before I left.  A drawing I did of my old Kitchen Table (which is now my craft table).  Mollie Makes Magazine that Moo bought in the UK and brought over for me and I haven't even peeked at it yet.  Am waiting for that special time when there is no one around and it is quiet - pah, chance will be a fine thing.

Some material left over from Small's curtains that Moo and I finished yesterday.

My picture "everything will be amazing" which was handmade by my super friend Jumbleberries and given to me as a leaving present.  My Stanley Dog that I made last year in the Felt Fairy's monthly makes.  Talking of which I have joined it again this year and won a giveaway again already.  What a lucky girl I am.  I won some bag handles.  Ahhhh I guess I have to make a bag now.  Now that could be a tricky for me.  Can you make one using Sticthery Witchery?  Or should I be telling my Huffle that I HAVE TO HAVE a sewing machine now!

...and somewhere on there, not sure if you can see it or not, is a nearly knitted sheep tea cosy which Moo started to knit ages ago but never finished.  She has given it to me to finish - I think it just needs an extra leg or ear and some sewing up.  Look forward to showing you.  Also I still need to sew on the pompom for the new DotDot baby.

That's about it on my desk this week.  Probably a lot of rubbish.  But that IS how my desk looks.  No setting up, no tidying to make it look better, I'm afraid it does just look like that!

Woyww #134 - a workdesk but nothing on it

Well I am surprised I am even blogging this week but hey, I've not missed one in ages so I can't start now.

Here is my table, unpacked, unwrapped, set up in the loft with my stuff all around (well some of it).  Still not started the curtains but it has been Christmas!!

My lovely tablecloth, bit squashed and creased, but loved.
My sewing box.
A Billabong tag - will add it to my Smash Book when I unpack it.
Christmas Ribbon left over from wrapping.
Some ribbon donated by Moo from her PJ's.
Cello tape - empty reel.
A knitting pattern for Christmas toys (for next year maybe?)

I also need to find the bonnet I made for "Bernard", LizzieDotDot's baby as she had him
this morning - I need to sew the pompom on

See desks here with hopefully more on than mine.

WOYWW #132 - ONE AND A HALF SCARVES

This week on my table is a finished (at last) scarf for Smallest lovingly crocheted.  Also there is the start of another scarf but for Small this time, knitted on lovely big needles.

Both of these scarves are supposed to be for Christmas presents for my special little boys.  However, I realised yesterday that the other ball of wool for Small's scarf is in the container, on the ship, which is refusing to come to our house TILL THE 28TH DECEMBER - Sorry for shouting but I'm mad!

Poor Small.  Hope it doesn't get too cold till after Christmas.

Anyway, my desk isn't very exciting.  Bear with me, next year (that's not as far away as it sounds) I will have my desk and my craft room and all my lovely craftiness supplies.  Ahhhhhh how I miss you, wool and ribbons, needles and crochet hooks, felt and material, glue and buttons, corks and beads, paints and paintbrushes - all of it.  I miss it all!

Next week I hope to have some christmas stockings in the making as they too are on the ship, and how will Santa deliver our presents to us in our new house if our stockings aren't hanging up.  So it's off to the Thrifty store again to find some suitable material (although I don't have my sewing kit either so my temporary one will have to suffice).

Go and have a look here at other peoples loveliness.

Thank you again to all of those people that comment on both of my blogs.  I have had such lovely words and comments from people I know and people I only know through writing the blogs.  It has been a difficult time for me and my family and the comments have been wonderful to read.  Thank you also to Brenda from Butlers Abroad for linking me on woyww the last couple of weeks because I don't have my computer yet and the IPad doesn't let me use Mr Linky.

woyww #131 (keep getting number wrong)

This week I have mostly been creating concert costumes for the boys.

Here are my materials:

I'm not really cheating.  This was on my 'workdesk' yesterday and some bits still are.  But this is what I did with them.

this is Smallest - he is supposed to be a Christmas Tree
I still have a hat to finish and maybe some popcorn strings!

This is Small and he is a Rock Star Snowman

I am stuck without my sewing kit, wool, Christmas decorations, anything, so this was quite challenge but a trip to the local thrifty shop was a good call.

Last week I was making a scarf for Smallest and a phone cover.

Ta  daaaaa
My phone cover is finished and in use.  Not perfect but it will do till Santa brings me a proper one.  The scarf - I think it's long enough.  Smallest is not too tall so it may not need anymore but then again there isn't much wool left so perhaps I'll finish it off.

I wonder what everyone else is up to today.  Have a look here.

WOYWW #128

My first woyww in Canada.  Now there isn't a lot on it because the ship hasn't arrived with all my stuff (at least three weeks yet!!!).
So what is on my workdesk?  (well for a start it is a small kitchen table).  All that is here is a very large crochet hook which I picked up at the local thrifty store?  Some thick wool I bought in the UK to make Smallest a scarf for Christmas.  I started a scarf in the UK before we came out here but the packers shipped it before I put in on one side to put in my flight bag.  A teapot full of tea.  Two mugs for Huffle and I.

....... And that's it!

There are lots of proper desks out there to have a nose at

Woyww #128 (nothing sniff sniff)

Well this doesn't look very interesting does it? Not only am I late in posting this but my table has been taken over by the packers who are shipping the contents of our house to Canada.

So on my table is a tin of paint which Huffle is using to paint the bits where shelves once were.
Kitchen roll (in our house this is called Poly Roll) - does anyone else call it this.
A pile of presents that were delivered today by my dear friends who I am leaving behind.
A car boot liner from my car that I have just sold to my wonderful friend Everett.
Small's rucksack.
My camera, ever ready to take photos of everything and everyone.
Even the table has been covered in bubble wrap ready to put in the big 40ft container.

I have had many excuses over the months for NOT posting proper workdesks but this one really pushes the boundaries.

Next week I will have a new desk across the sea. Who knows what will be on it. Certainly not my normal crafts as they have been packed already and won't be arriving until mid December.

However, I have been bought a lovely book today :-

....... So will maybe find a craft shop and buy some supplies and make something from here.

I also won a giveaway and this arrived in the post today........

It is from Lisa at Seaurchin

Not the best photo but the best I can manage today.

This is a gorgeous beautiful necklace and I am so happy I won it. Have a look at Lisa's work - www.etsy.com/shop/Seaurchin and www.folksy.com/shops/Seaurchin

I have lots of things I finished that I wanted to show but the computer has been packed and all my pictures are stored on there.

Please forgive me for not being able to visit too many desks this week. Shipping container arrives tomorrow. More packing and blowing up of airbeds. Off to parents Friday and a farewell party on Saturday. Then up, up and away flying on Sunday. HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT WEEK.

Proper WOYWW #123 - LANDED

Now this is ACTUALLY a picture of me chocheting on the Aeroplane.  (Can you see the overhead lockers?)  HONESTLY,  I am under that mass of blanket.

I managed to to do one round on the way there (took about 2 hours - but I was watching a film aswell) and one and a half rounds on the way back (that took about five hours - not really but it felt like ages!).

While I was in Canada I took a few pics.

This was the window of a really lovely looking knitting shop - it was closed unfortunately - but they were backing the pink ribbon Breast Cancer Care and the pink knitted things are breasts - how cute.

I picked these free kntting patterns up in Walmart and had to buy some wool to go with them - of course.

And these little beauties I found in a Thrifty shop - aren't they just adorable.  I thought I could use them to sew onto things I make for my boys.  75cents - that's all.

We went to Jack Astors for a bite to eat and on each table was a length of brown paper and a tub of pencils - so we did a bit of drawing.  This was supposed to be a Manga drawing but it went a bit wrong.  I even shamedly advertised my blog on there by writing it all over the tablecloth.  WHAT FUN.

This is the shop I have been dreaminig about owning (or renting) when we move.  Don't know what will be in it?  A coffee shop, a crafting shop, a cake shop - or maybe all three.

Woyww #123 air crochet

Now I know I promised a proper work desk this week after the last two were a bit "iffy" but I'm afraid I'm up in the air this week. No seriously, in the air, on a plane, flying across the Atlantic. I am doing some crafting though believe it or not. I'm crocheting my granny blanket. I do have a picture but as yet cannot find the correct tools to add it whilst up in the air. I dropped my ball of wool on the way here and the ball rolled along the aisle. He he he he he.

I also can't link it till I get home so that will have to wait too.

I do have some lovely little labels to show you then too so please do come back and have a look.

I will try and get round as many of you as possible but again it might have to be in a day or so.

Suffice to say that my blankie is getting so big now that I can only JUST fit it in my canvas tote bag by squashing it in and that it doesn't quite fit on my knee in the aeroplane. But that is what is on my 'work knee' this Wednesday.

There will be more knees, rugs, desks, ironing boards, table tops, lawns for you to peruse HERE.

Go on then, there's nothing more to see here.

Don't forget to come back, I promise pictures.
