WOYWW #227 - olè sock

Hello here I am sitting at my desk on a Tuesday evening because it is really Wednesday in the UK. Julia of What's on your worksdesk fame started this craziness so click on her name and all will be explained.

My desk.......

At the front left is Huffle's IPad (he lent it to me to post this as Small had mine). Next to it is a colourful thing that looks like a sombrero but is in fact a tea cosy. I am crocheting it and trying to get it wide enough to fit my Brown Betty. Next to that is the 2nd of Small's Christmas sock, the first one is next to this one. I love this, it is so cosy and warm and really easy to knit though I have gone back to the four needles instead of two circular but there no fiddly patterns.

At the front of my table was the surprise of the day. I came home to find a parcel from Marks & Spencers with the words 'scissors' on the front. Who would send me scissors? My lovely friend from England sent them for my birthday (last Friday). M&S, Kirsty Allsop in a floral case - HOW HAPPY AM I?

Right corner is my remote control for my new speakers (also birthday) from Huffle. Now I can sit and blast my music (Adele is on there at the moment - fabulous).

Two balls of cream wool are covering two cream lattice patterned socks that I was working on last time I was here. They are both at the same stage - needing wrapping and turning and I am not getting on so well so I am having a break from them. That's me for this week.

P.s. I was asked to show Leftover Leo now that he is finished. Smallest decided he didn't want him to have a scarf after all and I found a crocheted heart I made ages ago and sewed it on.

He is showing off and trying to take over the picture so that raggy doll doesn't get a look in (I am still waiting to deliver her to her new owner).

It's all about the socks this week, love it! I do like those red and grey ones for Small, they remind me of boot socks. My mam made me two tea cozies that we use, often both together on the same teapot in the middle of winter! You are so good at making little toys for the kids! And how many ipads do you have in your house, lol! I don't even have a smart phone yet!

Nice desk this week, did you know you can get an iPad app that activates and uses your iPad like a remote for your appliances? It is so cool. Love the knitted projects, shame about the boy shoving his way front and center. I think she is by far more beautiful.

Wow you definitely have had a productive week. I love the sound of your tea cosy, it would be a perfect choice for Wear a Tea Cosy on your Head Day which I saw advertised recently....lol. Happy WOYWW! Danie #16

LL is just so darn cute but a bit rude. RA is a beauty if her new owners doesn't appear...ahem... wink wink. ;) I think the sombrero/cosy on the head is a good idea since I don't drink tea. Your iPad turns on appliances? Really? Happy WOYWW! Nan G #14

Aaah crocheting - I tried to have a go at it last christmas, started out simple by making a stuffed christmas tree out of 2 triangles.
I came as far as making 2 triangles. They are still around here somewhere, two flat triangles... I enthousiastically bought wool and needles, but it's not really my thing. Probably because I have to learn it first and need to pay attention a lot, and when I am distracted I have to count again, or I accidentally let the needle come off and unravel half... Maybe later, as there are so many fun and pretty things to make!

You are good to work so many socks..I just know that four or circular, the needles would hate me! can't remember the last time I made tea in a pot, so am doubly impressed that you have and use a Brown Betty!

Your Leftover Leo is delightful! And what fun to get such a pretty scissors cover. Do you use a pattern for your tea cozy? I wouldn't mind trying that. I collect teapots, and of course drink a lot of tea from all those teapots! LOL
Thanks for the peek.

I so love your knitty makes...reminds me so much of the ones my girls had when they were little. One of them was very special and was loved so much that loops of the knitting came out which daddy thought would look better if he cut them off!!!!!! Yes you guessed it it fell apart :-) Guess who had to do some very quick knitting of new 'trousers and jumpers' for the much loved toy just to hold the stuffing back in :-)

I haven't even tried to knit socks -- too afraid of four needles! I wondered if people really use tea cosies - I've seen some beautiful patterns for them. Please share yours when you have it finished.

Also, love both knitting friends. The raggedy doll is adorable!

Happy WOYWW

April again. You asked what is in the chest of drawers I added to my room - mostly punches. Also the long platforms and dies for my Big Shot. I have one drawer full of 'stuff' like notebooks, notebook paper, a light bulb, etc. I'll have to take some 'inside' pictures. :-)
