What's on your workdesk WEDNESDAY

I am back at my table looking out at the sunshine and wind.

On my table today I have a pile of cook books which I am looking through to get inspiration for Small's 8th Birthday cake (couple of weeks).

My ever-increasing Granny Blanket.

My Mum's knitting needle bag with some patterns.

wow - all those needles - and she says she gave loads away to charity becuase I didn't knit then!!

My new project - a little baby bobble hat - for my friend who is due in February.  She doesn't know what she is having so I thought I would make one blue pom-pom and one pink pom-pom and then sew it on when we know.

My coffee and cafetier and my Smash Book.

It appears whenever I knit, I don't fully follow the instructions.  If there are a number of rows to knit, I start knitting and counting in my head.  That's not that easy when you have two small boys, an ever ringing telephone, dinner to cook, washing to hang out etc etc.  So I always find I've forgotton where I am.  I count the number of rows but that doesn't work properly.  Anyway the point I am trying to make is, whenever I knit something I always end up with one side longer than the other (this my family have started to call "Famfa's style")  When I am old and famous, people will know my work because of the assyemetrical style.

I have done this again with this bobble hat but I think it will be okay because it buttons under the chin - Oh well I've got plenty of time to make another one if it looks ridiculous.

Sorry for waffling.  I've taken up enough of your time.  Off you pop to look at some desks here.

Your table looks great - the granny blanket has so many folds it might be huge!! Great photo. I have the same counting prob...can only do it if I (remember to) mark a chart. Hopeless!!

LOL - I have the same counting problem! I've even got one of those click counters that you pop onto the needle and forget to use it, how sad is that?? I've got to learn to crochet, your blanket has inspired me! xx

I haven't knitted in ages but I also had problems counting - tried tally chart and the county thing device you can get to go on the needle but always got lost - thanks for sharing your blanket looks fabulous

Wow it looks busy by you! No matter how wonky your knitting, it will always be better than mine. The most complicated thing that I have pulled off is a scarf (and it was a bit scarry). Happy WOYWW -Amanda

Wipso will laugh when she reads this - we both knit but she is a "count and write it all down" knitter. I am like you - just keep it in my head - or not as the case may be! lol

The grannie blankie is still growing by the looks of it. Thanks for all the inspiration that you have given me, my blankie is also growing and the chocolate chocolate cake has all been eaten. Found that Galaxy choc powder not tooooo sickly. Only a small slice was needed tho, - prototype out of the way now for the BIG one for Saturday - wish me luck x

I like the sound of the off centre knits! Adds character to the piece! Love the red spotty tablecloth.

That's quite all right, you waffle and I'll read!! Good idea to hedge your bets with the bobbles for the hat. Have you ever tried a stitch/row counter that sits on the end of one knitting needle? Hugs Mrs A.

Just a quick visit this week due to illness but hope to do better next week ... thanks for sharing your desk. I'm impressed with the knitting needle collection - they are worth a small fortune! You need a row counter, methinks. I hope you have a great weekend. Elizabeth x #121

Sorry I am so late getting by this week but I wanted to pop by and visit your blog to say hello and to see what you are up to! Didn't have the time to post(except about newest Doswell addition) or craft the past two weeks due to being in Virginia visiting with the son's family to see the newest granddaughter born. Definitely a fun time none the less. Hope you have a great week. Vickie aka okienurse
